Our Mission

We founded Mojave Outdoor Gear because we were tired of tech failing us in the places that matter most—deep in the backcountry, miles from the nearest power grid, and hours from any support. As overlanders and backcountry adventurers ourselves, we’ve experienced firsthand what happens when a satellite messenger goes dark, when a solar generator can’t hold a charge through a cold desert night, or when a robotic mower marketed for “all-terrain” use fails on the first slope.

Our mission is simple: to provide brutally honest, field-tested reviews of high-ticket outdoor technology. We don’t test gear in climate-controlled labs or suburban backyards. We take it where you take it—to remote cabins, overland routes, alpine camps, and off-grid homesteads. We push equipment to its limits so you know exactly what will perform when you’re far from civilization and depending on it.

We focus on the gear that matters: robotic mowers designed for rugged terrain, satellite communication devices built for true wilderness use, elite portable power systems that deliver when the grid is a memory, and outdoor cooking tech that stands up to real-world abuse. If it’s expensive, if it’s marketed as “expedition-grade,” and if your safety or comfort depends on it, we put it through the wringer. Our Expertise

Our team isn’t made up of bloggers or armchair reviewers. We’re field professionals with decades of combined experience in backcountry navigation, off-grid living, overlanding, and wilderness survival. We’ve crossed deserts in modified 4x4s, spent winters in remote cabins powered entirely by solar, and guided expeditions where a failed GPS or dead battery could mean the difference between getting home and getting stuck.

Every piece of gear we review is tested in real-world conditions—not just for a weekend, but over weeks and months of continuous use. We measure battery life under temperature extremes. We test satellite messengers from canyon bottoms and dense forest canopies. We run robotic mowers through rocky slopes, mud, and overgrown trails. We cook with portable stoves in high winds, freezing temperatures, and blistering heat.

We don’t accept advertising from manufacturers, and we don’t sugarcoat our findings. If a piece of gear fails, we tell you how and why. If it performs beyond expectations, we explain what makes it worth the investment. Our reviews are detailed, technical, and uncompromising—because that’s what you need when you’re betting on equipment in environments that don’t forgive mistakes.

We’re not here to sell you dreams. We’re here to help you make informed decisions about the technology you depend on when you’re off the grid, off the beaten path, and on your own.
